FAQ
Does an invitation letter from Azbukum guarantee that I will receive a Type D visa?

The invitation letter from Azbukum is one of the most important documents for initiating the visa application process. However, Azbukum does not guarantee that you will receive a visa based on the letter Azbukum sends you. The decision whether to award a visa belongs solely to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.

Can I enroll in a shorter, less intensive program and still get a Type D visa to study Serbian at Azbukum?

No, unfortunately. In order to get a Type D student visa while studying at Azbukum you must be enrolled in an intensive program lasting from a minimum of 6 months up to a year.

Can I enroll in a program even if I do not intend to enroll in academic study in Serbia after the Azbukum course?

Of course you can. The most important thing is to check whether you need a Republic of Serbia entry visa. If you do require an entry visa, then your study at Azbukum must be followed by academic study in Serbia conducted in the Serbian language.

If I enroll in Preparatory program for academic study and don’t receive a residence permit, do you return the first tuition payment for the first 72 course hours?

No. The already-paid portion of the tuition for the first 72 course hours will not be returned, nor can the sum be transferred to another person. You of course have the right to finish the pre-paid portion of your program.
